Susan and Lindsay Adams would like to welcome you to the home of KATELANDS GUNDOGS, a small family-run kennel near to Kingsbury, in the heart of the Midlands.
We specialise in German Shorthaired Pointers and Weimaraners, and have also owned German Wirehaired Pointers over the years. Lindsay has also competed very successfully in the working trial arena with his GSD's, reaching the final of the Intercounties Service Dog Trials 2008 and winner of the Regional Trials 2003.
We have a dual interest with our dogs, in that not only do we enjoy showing them, we also train them to compete in Gundog working events as well.
Our first aim is to produce sound, healthy stock, with excellent conformation and temperaments. We are proud that we have bred dogs who as well as being excellent pets and loyal companions, have also excelled in the field and demonstrate their true working ability.
Many of our puppies, either owned by ourselves or others, or sired by our stud dogs, have had very successful careers in the show ring and working environments, winning many Challenge Certificates, Reserve Challenge Certificates, and first places at both Championship and Open Shows, and winning Gundog Working Tests and being placed at Field Trials, and graded at Pointing Tests.
We occasionally have puppies for sale to approved homes. We do not breed very often, but when we do we are committed to giving our puppies the best start in life. They are only available to people who fully understand the needs of these challenging dogs. All our dogs are carefully screened for any health problems before being bred from or used at stud. They are all hip-scored and hold current clear eye certificates. We are members of the Kennel Club Accredited Breeders Scheme, please click on the logo to find out more about this scheme. We are proud to have owned and bred fine examples of our 3 main breeds over the years. Tynsil The Lion King at Katelands J.W, our first German Wirehaired Pointer, Crufts winner 2003, he still holds the record as the youngest ever Junior Warrant GWP holder to date. Tynsil Precious Angel at Katelands, Best Puppy in Show GWP Open Show 2007. Katelands Carina, our homebred weimaraner, winner Best Puppy In Breed Crufts 1999. Our current show team includes one of the most promising weimaraners in the show scene at the moment. Home-bred Katelands Christmas Spirit J.W, Mina, is the youngest weimaraner bitch on record to be awarded the Junior Warrant Title, Crufts Winner 2009, Runner Up Puppy of 2008 with 4 Best Puppy wins at Championship Show Level. Show Champion Isara Kurzhaar Innkeeper at Katelands Sh.CM, Jack, our German Shorthaired Pointer, winner of 4 Challenge Certificates, 5 Reserve Challenge Certificates, Best in Show Birmingham Gundog and Terrier Open Show 2007, Reserve Best in Show Lichfield Open Show 2007, awarded his show certificate of merit award. Producing youngsters who are consistently winning in the show ring and working field, including progeny placed at field trials Isara Kurzhaar Onapremise J.W , Promise, has found her forever home with us at the age of 2 ½, after the tragic loss of her owner and breeder Fio Roberts, Isara Kurzhaar, on the 23rd Feb 2009. The GSP world has been left with a huge void which perhaps will never be filled. Now owned jointly between me and Fio's daughter Kathryn Rittscher who lives in the US. Promise has her Junior Warrant and won the Mid Limit class at Crufts in 2008. She is half - sister to our I K Innkeeper, so I hope she follows in his footsteps. Isara Kurzhaar Trollope at Katelands, Poppy, is our new youngster, again bred by Fio. Poppy's show career has started with a bang, winning both Minor Puppy and Puppy Bitch at WELKS Championship show April 2009.
Eshaldwell New Lexington at Katelands, Lola, is our very exciting GSP bred by Tony and Stevie Allerton. With a Birkenwald and Eshaldwell pedigree, including 39 field trials champions, she has shown incredible ability already in the working field, and has already featured in working test results. She will be campaigned during 2009, provisional enquiries already being taken for a planned mating between her and our I K Innkeeper later this year. Her pedigree is from the most prestigious line in Europe. Please click on the links to more information regarding our dogs details, pedigree's, progeny and pictures. I am the membership Secretary and Treasurer of the German Wirehaired Pointer Club, please contact me if you wish to join. Lindsay also serves on the committee. I am on the judges 'B' list breed specialist for the Weimaraner Club of Great Britain, the Weimaraner Association, N.E.W.S. Also on the 'C' list breed specialist GWP and 'C' list GSP club.
